Here you will start from Sankri and cover Har ki Dun, Hata Valley, Borasu Pass, Ruinsara Lake, Bali Pass, Base camp of Black Peak and Dhamdhaar Kandi, all in one go.
Sankri is the starting point of our trek GHT 5000 metres it is the hub of many treks in Uttarakhand. Sankri is a base village of many treks. Sankri is a very beautiful village and also very less crowded. One can practice yoga and meditation. It is perfect for it. Sankri is in the upper tons valley in Govind pashu Bihar wildlife sanctuary with Rupin and Supin range in Uttarkashi district.
The Supin originates from the glacier Jaundhar near Har Ki Dun. It flows continuously in Har ki dun valley in Govind Pashu Vihar. The beautiful emerald blue color meets in Rupin at Netwar and forms Tons.
The Har ki dun trek originally starts from Gangad. It looks like a hanging village. The houses are made up of wood. Now the Gangad has a road network. Now electricity is also available. This village represents the culture of har ki dun.
Osla is a remote village on the way of Har ki Dun trek. It takes 4 KM treks from Gangad to reach Osla. It is around 5000 years old. It has a history that is connected with the Mahabharat period. Here's the famous Someshar Mahadev temple also known as Dhuryodhana temple, the architect of the temple is Pahadi, made of rock and wooden elements.
Boslo is the name of a beautiful campsite of treks. River Supin flows near the camp. The camp is surrounded by forests of Deodar cedar, Chir pine, Oak, and Conifers such as Spruce, Blue pine, and Silver fir.
The Maninda tal is an alpine lake, it remains frozen in winter. It is 2 km ahead of har ki dun. The lake is surrounded by alpine meadows and from July to September, the lake is surrounded by Brahma Kamal. The lake formed due to a huge boulder that stopped the flowing water. Now this boulder again shifted little due to this water draining and the size of the lake now shrinked. This lake is kind of temporary.
The Hata Valley has expansive high altitude meadows at an altitude of 13,000 ft. It gives views of Hata peak. Hata Valley is in the north direction, and to the right of Marinda Tal. It is around 3 KM in distance one way.
The Borasu pass is very high up at 5,360 meters. It connects two different valleys. One is the Har Ki Dun valley in Uttarakhand. The other is the Baspa valley in Himachal Pradesh. The treks usually starts near Sankri village. It gives you a clear path between the states. Hikers get stunning, wide views of the mountain peaks, especially the famous Swargarohini group. It is a long, hard trek across a big pass. This route was historically important for local people moving goods.
The Ruinsara lake is a beautiful lake made by a glacier. It is located in the Uttarkashi district. The lake sits right at the base of both Black Peak and the Swargarohini range. The area is special because of the many wildflowers that grow there in summer. The lake is considered very peaceful. Old local stories say the Pandavas took this specific route when they walked on their final journey to heaven. It is a quiet place to camp.
The Bali Pass is a difficult trek. It is very high altitude, sitting at around 4,950 meters. This route is important because it connects the Har Ki Dun valley to the sacred Yamunotri area. The path goes through the ancient village of Osla. It also passes very close to Ruinsara Lake. The pass offers a difficult but rewarding challenge for experienced trekkers. It is a classic Garhwal crossing that requires good fitness.
The Black Peak is a well known and important peak in the Garhwal Himalayas. Its height is a dramatic 6,387 meters. Its name, Kala Nag, means Black Serpent, because of its dark look and winding ridge. You get truly amazing and full views of this peak from many places. It is clearly visible from locations like Ruinsara Lake and parts of the high Dhumdhar Kandi route. It is one of the more striking mountains in the region.
Swargarohini is actually a group of four main peaks. The highest point is over 6,252 meters. It is easily visible from many different treks in this region, standing tall over the valleys. The peak is famous for its local legend. The story says this mountain is the actual path that leads directly to heaven. This gives the whole area a deep, holy feeling. It is a stunning sight to see from the lower valleys.
This pass is extremely high, at 5,490 meters. It is known as a very difficult and risky route to cross. It connects the famous Gangotri and Yamunotri valleys. That is a major accomplishment. The pass sits right near the base of both Black Peak and Swargarohini. Only highly skilled, serious trekkers try to cross this trail. They must have proper guidance. It is considered one of the toughest passes in the Garhwal area. This is not for beginners.
