Auli is known as the Ski destination of India located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Situated at an altitude of about 2909 mts or 9544 ft above sea level it offers panoramic views of the Himalayan Mountain peaks of Nanda devi, Kamet and Dunagiri and the magnificent coniferous and oak forests. Owing to the surrounding natural beauty of snow-capped mountains, Auli is one of the most preferred destinations for all snow lovers.
In the 8th century, Adiguru Shri Shankracharya established a Jotir math at Joshimath, about 6km from Auli and is present even today.

Auli in summers is from March to June as the temperatures are not too cold or too hot ranging between 6–17-degree C. One can take in the natural beauty of the magnificent coniferous trees overlooked by the snowcapped mountains by taking a leisurely or an intense trek, or go for small walks around the Chattrakund lake and enjoy a nice picnic away from the bustling heat of the cities.
Auli in winters is from November to February and is a sight to behold as its covered with snow especially December onwards. The minimum temperatures range from -8 to 0 degrees Celsius. Owing to this it’s an ideal place for skiing, snow trekking and snowboarding.

Various easy to difficult trekking routes are available for people to explore according to their comfort.

Auli is well connected to all the important cities of Uttarakhand. Its approximately 290 kms from the capital Dehradun and 252 kms from Rishikesh.
Auli is situated 14 kms from Joshimath the base town. In winters (from December end till mid-March) the road from Joshimath to Auli is not operational due to heavy snowfall. One has to take a Cable car as it is the only mode of transportation from Joshimath to Auli.
