Auli in summers is from March to June as the temperatures are not too cold or too hot ranging between 6–17-degree C. Auli in winters is from November to February and is a sight to behold as its covered with snow especially December onwards. The minimum temperatures range from -8 to 0 degrees Celsius. Owing to this it’s an ideal place for skiing, snow trekking and snowboarding.

Places to visit in Auli 

• Joshimath - is also known as the base town of Auli. It is here that the ropeway to Auli begins. This ropeway is one of the longest ropeways in Asia. The cable car ropeway also known as Gondola ride covers approximately 4.5kms between Joshimath and Auli and costs about 1000Rs for both ways.
• Along with a cable car one can even make use of the chair lift and a ski lift to reach at the top apart from the marked trekking routes
• Shankracharya Math: Established by Adi Shankaracharya has temples of Badrinarayan and Rajrajeshwari Devi. One can also explore the sacred cave where it is believed that shankaracharya conducted his meditation.
• Narsingh Temple: This is an ancient temple of Lord Vishnu in its Narsingh avatar which is half lion and half man. 
• Tapovan: Situated 10 km from Joshimath famous for its natural hot water springs from which river Dhauliganga is visible.
• Artificial Lake: Located 3000 mt above sea level take a stroll around the artificial lake of Auli located next to the Cliff Top Club resort.
• Nanda Devi and Valley of flower National Park: A UNESCO world heritage site it encompasses two distinguished areas home to wide variety of endangered flora and mammals such as snow leopards, Himalayan musk deer and Bharal or blue sheep which can only be explored via prior permits and trekking.

Auli is well connected to all the important cities of Uttarakhand. Its approximately 290 kms from the capital Dehradun and 252 kms from Rishikesh.

• By Air: Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport to Auli situated at a distance of 286kms. Jolly Grant Airport is well connected to Delhi and Mumbai with daily flights. The nearest international airport is the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, about 480 kilometres from Auli.
• By Rail: The nearest railway station to Auli is Rishikesh which is situated 264kms from Auli.  Rishikesh railway station is well connected with frequent trains from major destinations of India. Alternatively, one can even get down at Dehradun railway station which is 290 kms away.
• By Road: Auli is well connected by motorable roads with all major cities of Uttarakhand.
  From Delhi Auli is about 490 kms by road and can take about 10-12 hrs to reach.
  From Rishikesh Auli is about 250 kms by road and can take about 6-8 hrs to reach.

Auli is situated 14 kms from Joshimath the base town. In winters (from December end till mid-March) the road from Joshimath to Auli is not operational due to heavy snowfall.  One has to take a Cable car as it is the only mode of transportation from Joshimath to Auli.

• Clothing: Travelling during winters one will require to be dressed in warm yet comfortable clothing. Layering your clothes hence becomes important and practical.
