Day 1: Pickup from Airport and Chek-in at Haridwar

Points to Remember:

  • Documents Required: Trekkers should carry a copy of the Aadhar Card (Indian National) or a copy of the Passport and visa(International Tourist) along with the Medical Certificate signed by a Doctor.
  • Accommodation: Trek stays in an A-Shape tent/ North Face Tent. Built to withstand extreme weather conditions and, at the same time, make you comfortable after a hard day’s trek.
    • Do not litter the Mountains. Kindly carry all the non-biodegradable bags with you and throw them in the dustbin.
    • Please do not feed animals (especially dogs) with biscuits.
    • Biscuits can cause health issues; their fur starts shedding, which makes it difficult for them to survive in the winter.

  • Cloakroom: We have a cloakroom facility available for extra luggage. Every trekker is permitted to leave their luggage behind at no charge.

Kartikswami Temple and Chopta Trek Uttarakhand Itinerary

Picked up from the airport and checked in at Haridwar. Visited Mansa Devi Temple, and Chandi Devi Temple, and in the evening, witnessed the vibrant Holi Ganga river Aarti.

After breakfast, drive 160 km to Kund for an overnight stay at Kund Guest House. En route, witness the confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers at Devprayag, and the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers at Rudraprayag. In the evening, visit the Omkarashwar Temple in Okhimath, and conclude the day with a darshan of Kedarnath Baba after Diwali.

Tungnath stands as one of the world’s highest Shiva temples, part of the Panch Kedar temples in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district. Nestled in the Tungnath mountains, it shapes the Mandakini and Alaknanda river valleys. Chandrashila, translating to “Moon Rock,” crowns the Tungnath temple at 3,690 meters above sea level. The summit offers panoramic views of the Himalayas, featuring Nandadevi, Trisul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpunch, and Chaukhamba peaks. Trek 3.5 km to this enchanting site and enjoy an overnight stay at the Chopta Campsite.

Embark on a drive to Sari Village (15 km) and trek to the captivating Deorital. After the exploration, return to Sari Village for an overnight stay at the guest house. Immerse yourself in the scenic beauty and tranquility of the region.

After breakfast, drive to Kanakchauri village for Kartik Swami Temple, then return to Devprayaga Guest House. The temple, perched atop a mountain against a snow-covered Himalayan backdrop, offers a dreamlike setting. A 3-km trek and an 80-step climb lead to the temple adorned with thousands of bells. It is believed that offering a bell on Kartik Purnima fulfills wishes. The evening prayers, with tolling bells and hymns, create an enchanting ambiance.

After breakfast, drive to Rishikesh via Vashishta Gufa. According to Hindu mythology, Sage Vashishta contemplated suicide in the Ganges after the loss of his children, but Goddess Ganga refused. Entranced by the location, his wife Arundhati chose to stay, and Sage Vashishta meditated in a cave here. Enjoy an overnight stay at a Rishikesh guest house.

Indulge in exhilarating white-water rafting after breakfast. Explore the Yoga Capital, Rishikesh, and visit landmarks like Beatles Ashram, Ramjhula, and Laxman Jhula. Wrap up your day by witnessing the enchanting Ganga Aarti in the evening.

  • Haridwar to Rudraprayag: You can find direct buses for Rudraprayag from Haridwar. Reach Haridwar early in the morning and then take a bus to Rudrapyarag. The distance is 160 km and you can reach Rudraprayag in 5 hours. 
  • Rudraprayag to Kund: The distance between Rudraprayag to Kund is just 35 km. You can find a shared taxi for Kund. Take a shared taxi and reach Kund in about 1-2 hours.
  • Kund to Chopta: Drive to Chopta for your Tungnath trek. The distance is just 40 km and you will reach Chopta in 2 hours.

Notice: All trekkers are strictly advised not to carry unnecessary plastic items such as disposable bottles, single-use cutlery, polythene bags, and food wrappers during the trek. We encourage the use of reusable bottles, tiffin boxes, and cloth bags to minimise waste and protect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem. Your cooperation is essential in ensuring a clean and sustainable trekking experience.

Clothing And Backpack

Look for a good backpack (50L) with a rain cover. Your backpack should provide you with good back support. Now start packing your clothes. Pack 5 quick-dry pants and 3 pairs of trekking pants. You should pack a fleece jacket as the mornings and evenings can be cold. Pack a good waterproof wind cheater jacket. If you are trekking in winters then pack a good quality down jacket. Get a woolen cap and muffler. Pack a pair of gloves. You should also pack a pair of thermals (upper and lower) for night.

Footwear

You need good quality trekking shoes. Your trekking shoes should be familiar to your feet. Do not pack a new pair of shoes while trekking. If you are buying a new pair then wear it for at least 10 days before your trek. Make the shoes familiar to your feet. Now pack 5 pairs of trekking socks and 2 pairs of woolen socks. You should also pack a pair of sandals for the campsites.

Personal Care

Get a zipper back and pack all the toiletries. Now pack a pair of sunglasses and sunscreen lotion to prevent sunburn. Get a moisturizer to prevent skin dryness. Pack a toilet paper roll and hand sanitizer. You should make a small first-aid kit with a few basic medicines. If you are carrying a camera then extra batteries.

Start Early

Early morning is the best time to start your trek. Have an early morning breakfast and start your trek on time. The views are better and the temperature also remains manageable. Reach the location by the afternoon so you can spend some more time there. 

Pack Smartly

You should pack your bags very smartly. Your bag should provide good back support as you have to carry the bag on your own. Do not pack any extra items that make your bag heavy. If you are trekking with your friends or family then share your items. It will reduce the load. 

Make A Small First-Aid Kit

The trekking company always carries the basic medicines for emergencies. But not everyone faces the same medical conditions. You can make a small first-aid kit according to your health status. It can be very helpful in remote locations. 

Weather Awareness

Weather can change anytime in high-altitude locations. You should always prepare yourself for rains and chilly winds. If you are trekking in late autumn or winter then keep snowfall in your mind. Always carry enough clothes to keep yourself warm and dry.

Inclusion

  • Transport support from Dehradun/Rishikesh to Dehradun/Rishikesh (Pick-up location: Railway Station)
    Pick-up Time: Around 7:30 am
  • Accommodation – At Base Camp, stay at a local homestay or guest house for one night each, which will give you an insight into the authentic lifestyle of the locals. (INR 5000 per person extra for single sharing throughout the trek).
    On Trek stay in a 2-person Vango Halo Pro/A-Shape tent, which is to be shared by two trekkers, built to withstand extreme weather conditions and at the same time making you comfortable after a hard day’s trek.
  • Camping Equipment – specially designed sleeping bags that can withstand harsh weather conditions, foam mattresses. Other safety gear like microspikes, gaiters, an ice axe, and helmets will be provided.
  • Medical Kit – our team will be equipped with an extensive medical kit, which our team is trained and experienced to use. Oxygen cylinders are used after they are thoroughly inspected throughout the Trek. Even campsites have large oxygen cylinders as backups.
  • Permission  -  Forest entry charges for Indian nationals (Additional charges will be applicable for international tourists)
  • Meals – Breakfast, packed lunch (on trek days), evening snacks, and dinner will be served. A hearty, delicious, and nutrition-filled Veg meals with egg preparation will be provided throughout the trek. (Jain and Vegan Food can also be arranged on prior notification). There will be a dedicated Kitchen Tent along with a dining tent, which will have a dining table too.
  • Our Team – A highly experienced and AMC-certified Trek Leader who will help ensure that the entire trek goes smoothly and safely while navigating the challenging conditions during the trek, and is skilled enough to navigate any medical emergency that can arise during the trek. Local and route guides who are well-versed with the region and provide an in-depth insight into the local customs and knowledge of the flora and fauna endemic to the region. A dedicated Kitchen staff, which includes a Cook, a helper, and other support staff. There will also be porters and mules to carry common equipment.
  • Cloakroom - We have a cloakroom facility available for extra luggage. Every trekker is permitted to leave their luggage behind at no charge.

Exclusions

  • Personal expenses like tips, personal medicines, phone calls etc.
  • Travel Expenses -  Travel expenses from your hometown to the mentioned Pick-Up Point are not included in the trek fee.
    From the scheduled pick-up spot to the base camp, we have our own fleet of vehicles like Bolero, Innova, Dezire, or Tempo Traveler (12-seater). This is be shared by trekkers for a pre-decided amount. All vehicles are non-AC.
  • Personal Equipment - Any personal gear like jackets, shoes, cutlery, or backpacks are not included in the trek fee. We recommend renting them from our Rental Store for an affordable fee. This can be pre-arranged to avoid last-minute hang-ups.
  • Offloading - We encourage carrying your backpack to get into the true spirit of trekking. However, if needed, you can opt to offload your personal luggage of up to 12 kgs for an additional cost of INR 400 per bag per day.
  • Trek Insurance - A mandatory trek insurance fee is charged in addition to your trek fee. Since most medical insurance doesn’t cover adventure activities, trek insurance offers essential coverage, enhancing your safety without a significant financial burden.
  • Buffer day on the trek - We have kept a buffer day on the trek to account for any weather-related delay. If this is utilized, you will need to pay an extra amount to your trek leader.

  • Please carry a lunch box for a packed lunch/breakfast to avoid using polythene and Aluminium foil.
