Phulara Ridge Trek location:

The Phulara Ridge is situated in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. The trek commences from Sankri base camp which is almost 190 km from the capital city Dehradun.

Phulara Ridge Trek Altitude and Elevation:

The highest altitude you’d touch while on your trek to Phulara Ridge is 12,345 ft. The elevation will be gradual. You’ll get one day to acclimatize in Sankri plus every night at the campsite. On the second and third day, trekkers will move upwards at the height of 8,900 feet and 11,200 feet respectively.

Best time to Visit Phulara Ridge Trek:-

The Phulara Ridge Trek’s best time would be summer. The months between April to June. The weather is pleasant, the sun is shining and the weather does not pose any difficulties.

Phulara Ridge Trek in October, September, and November are also fine. Provided, you pack right and are prepared for the cold. The monsoon window between July to August and the Harsh winter months of December – March is when you should be planning the Phulara Ridge Trek instead of doing it.

Planning for the Phulara Ridge Trek

●   The first step to planning a trek is always getting fit. Don’t let commercials fool you! Even before you decide which trek it is going to be, start jogging and exercising every day. Irrespective of

●   Invest in good gear: It is necessary to pack right and have the right gear when going for a trek. Remember not to overpack and ensure whatever goes into your bag is aligned with the weather.

●   Explore the map and the route according to the itinerary in advance.

●   The Phulara Ridge Trekking is almost a no-network zone. So, keep your loved ones well-informed and be prepared for almost no screen time. Perhaps, you won’t get your dopamine rush from your mobile but from the adventure and mother nature.

What each day will look like:-

Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri Drive-

The journey begins with a drive from Sankri to Dehradun, covering the distance in approximately 7 to 8 hours. You’ll take a break in Mussoorie for breakfast and enjoy the views of Nag Tibba and Mount Bandarpunch from here. After reaching Sankri, take in the views of the surroundings and rest in the guesthouse.

Day 2: Trek from Sankri to Sikolta

4.5 km hike from Sankri to Sikolta that takes around 4-5 hours to complete. On reaching Sikolta, get some rest then excursion to Juda ka Talab followed by overnight camping.

Day 3: Trek from Sikolta to Bhoj Gadi

You will trek from Sikolta to Bhoj Gadi, covering a distance of 4.5 km in around 5 hours. This is a rewarding trek as it will not only open you to Karsu Thatch and offer views of Kedarkantha but also lead you to one of the most beautiful campsites on the Himalayan trail.

Day 4: Bhoj Gadi to Phulara Ridge and Trek to Pushtara

The next leg of the trek takes you from Bhoj Gadi to Pushtara via the Phulara Ridge, covering a distance of 8.5 km in 7-8 hours. This part of the journey is a bit more challenging, as you will have to navigate through steep ascents and rocky terrains. But today you get to trek the ridge. The adrenaline rush and views from the top make the extra effort worth it.

Day 5: Trek from Pushtara to Taluka and drive to Sankri

You will start the day with a 10 km trek from Pushtara to Taluka, followed by a 15-minute drive to Sankri. (The trail is relatively easier compared to the previous day as you are descending downwards.

Day 6: Drive from Sankri to Dehradun

The final leg of the journey takes you back to Dehradun, covering a distance of 187 KM in 7 to 8 hours. It is common to feel a little low while you bid bye to the mountains and enter civilization 🙂
