From Ransi village the Madmaheshwar trek is usually a 3-day 32-kilometer journey that ends at the Madhyamaheshwar temple and passes through picturesque surroundings.
If you travel by pony Madmaheswar is quite accessible in a single day. However give yourself an additional day to rest in between. From Uniana the trek route is 19 km long. To get there it would take at least two days.
Ukhimath is the first stop on the journey to Budha Madmaheshwar followed by Ransi the starting point and finally the temple itself.
For the purpose of escaping Bhima Lord Shiva split his body into five pieces. The locations where the Lords five parts manifested are known as the Panch Kedar. According to legend Madhyamaheshwar is where the Lords middle torso (madhya in Hindi means middle) first appeared.
The trip there is nevertheless very captivating because it offers beautiful views of a number of peaks including Kedarnath Neelkanth Trishul Kamet and Panchachuli across a small lake. Many devotees travel from far and wide to visit the hill temple of Budha Madmaheshwar.
By Road: From Delhi Haridwar Rishikesh or Dehradun you can take a direct bus to Ukhimath. Buses from Haridwar and Rishikesh leave early in the morning and are more frequent than those from Delhi and Dehradun. Ukhimath has excellent motorway access to Uttarakhands main destinations.
For those who are physically fit this moderate-to-difficult trek is perfect. It takes roughly five to six days to finish.
