Is it becoming difficult to choose between Har Ki Dun and Valley of Flowers?
While both treks are in Uttarakhand, start from the same point and have quite a few things in common. When choosing between the two, one comes across the differences in the views, terrain, weather, and the time suitable to visit.
We’ve used these factors to help you make your choice:-
Har Ki Dun Trek promises views of greenery, meadows, and snow-capped mountains. Valley of Flowers as the name suggests offers views of a very wide variety of colorful flowers in the lap of the Himalayas.
Har Ki Dun is ideal for summer and autumn treks, providing a pleasant experience from April to June and September to November. The Valley of Flowers Trek, unlike other treks, is best visited between July and September when the flowers are in full bloom.
Suitable for beginners, Har ki Dun has not-so-steep slopes. Valley of Flowers on the other hand might be a little physically challenging because of the steep ascents.
Har Ki Dun enjoys pleasant weather during the summer with temperatures up to 21 degrees and the lowest to -11 degrees in winter while the Valley of Flowers gets as hot as 17 degrees and as cold as -10 degrees.
The Har Ki Dun trek is most suitable for beginners and is comparatively an easy trek. Valley of Flowers, on the other hand, is moderately difficult. It can be done by beginners too with proper exercise and training.
The Har Ki Dun trek package ranges from Rs.10,000 to Rs.14,000 while the packages of Valley of Flowers range from Rs.12000 to Rs.17000. Although, these prices differ significantly depending on the days and places covered.
Both the Har Ki Dun and Valley of Flowers trek are very beautiful. It is on the trekker to choose what he/she/they want to witness and what aligns with their fitness level. Whichever you choose, ensure to have fun! Stay safe, happy trekking!
