Places To Visit In Dhanaulti

  1. Amber & Dhara- developed by the forest department Amber and Dhara are two eco parks which are 200 mts apart from each other. It houses a small protected forest of oak and deodar trees. Adventure facilities like flying fox etc are also available for tourists to indulge in.
  2. Surkanda Devi Temple- situated 8 kms from Dhanaulti at a height of 3030 mts on the road towards Chamba is the Surkanda Devi Temple dedicated to Goddess Parvati. It is also known for its Ganga Dussehra fair in autumn. 
    It is part of the Devi Darshan triangle, which offers trekking options around Dhanaulti - Surkanda Devi, Chandrabadni and Kunjapuri.
  3. Tehri Dam And Tehri Lake- situated 50km from Dhanaulti on the Bhagirathi River it’s one of the tallest dam in the world and tallest dam in whole of India and another popular attraction near Dhanaulti. Tehri Lake which is an artificial reservoir offers a host of water sports activities like boating, jet skiing, water zorbing and more. As its at a height of 1700 mts above sea level it provides breathtaking views.
  4. Dhanaulti Adenture Park-  a part of the Apple Orchard Resorts this adventure park offers host of adventure activities like zip line. Sky walks, zip swings, etc. various packages are available for tourists to choose from.
  5. Deogarh Fort- built in 16th century and situated at an elevation of 2100 mts offers visitors an insight into the regions rich culture and heritage with some breathtaking views.
  6. Aloo Khet- partly owned by the local government one can explore the vegetable farming esp potatoes that are done in this region.

How To Reach Dhanaulti

Dhanaulti is located in the Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand on the Mussoorie Chamba road. It is 24 kms away from Mussoorie and about 35kms from Chamba. It is well connected to all cities of Uttarakhand and from New Delhi it is roughly at a distance of 300 kms.

  • BY Air: The nearest Airport to Dhanaulti is Dehradun Airport which is approximately 80 kms away and the nearest International Airport is New Delhi International Airport which is approximately 233 kms away.
  • BY Rail: Rishikesh and Dehradun railway stations are both near to Dhanaulti. Rishikesh station is 83 kms while Dehradun station is 60 kms. Both Dehradun and Rishikesh are well connected with trains from all over India.
  • BY Road: Dhanaulti is well connected by roads to various cities of Uttarakhand like Dehradun, Rishikesh, Mussoorie etc with frequent private and shared taxi services and busses.

Important Things To Carry

1. Clothing:

  • When Travelling during winters one will require to be dressed in warm yet comfortable clothing. Layering your clothes hence becomes important and practical.
  • Wearing thermal tops and bottoms is a must esp. when travelling during winter months along with some woolen or thermal socks. Over the thermals one can wear layers of other clothing items to keep warm.
  • A woolen cap or a beanie will keep one warm, especially when winds are strong.
  • A waterproof jacket, gloves and shoes are very important while undertaking outdoor activities like skiing, trekking etc.
