Think of a territory where the charm of words of the most proficient poets would stop at the very first line of the description. Trekking is one of the best things that one can do in this paradise on earth known as Jammu & Kashmir and one of the most fascinating treks of Jammu and Kashmir is the Brammah Valley Trek located in the Kishtwar National Park. This trek is truly a combination of the beautiful and great scenery, the green vegetation, and an exciting experience.
All lovers of stunning nature will appreciate this popular tourist destination. Picture this: majestic hills some rising to 4000m towering above as you zigzag through great forest land, marshland, and beautiful waterfalls. Nature is even declared to have organised a party that occurs at every corner you turn, the scenes are more stunning than the other.
Your base is normally at Kedar Maidan; one can feast eyes on the Eiger and Tarparan summits to the left and Brammah I, the second-highest peak of Jammu to the right. And, if the geography was not enticing enough, we have a hill called ‘Mount Brammah Wife’ right next to Brammah I – how picture-perfect is that?
Per prior instructions, there and then, as you progress in the woods, you are in for a treat. There is a very dense forest cover, you will see a variety of plants and animals that will make you want to pinch yourself. The Nath River is always by your side, making a melodious sound that becomes the background score of your travel. Finally, there is culture shock, however, Jammu and Kashmir are culturally strong and any conversation with the locals is like getting a mini history lesson.
Thus, the Brammah Valley Trek is classified as moderate, which implies that the trek is fairly tough to make it interesting, but not unbearably arduous. The highest point you get to is 3,535 meters and the trekking duration is 7 days which allows you to fully enjoy the scenery and escape the rat race.
During the climb, one faces small challenges, which although not overly complicated, still pose some issues. Of course, there are some rivers you shall meet on your way, which yet can be quite problematic. With confidence and peppiness, one will easily cross these hurdles. The climate/altitude of the area is moderate but if it rains one should be careful with the slippery trails. The team of Himalaya Shelter shall ensure your safety, but you should be mentally and physically prepared for the improvements.
These months boast of clear skies and snow-clad valleys festivals with green colours. It is an added attraction and makes the climb easier and visually enjoyable.
September is autumn and, in the valley, it transforms everything into a golden-brown wonderland. The temperatures are favourable, thus improving the general trekking conditions.
The Brammah Valley Trek presents the sight of four major peaks of Kishtwar which are all of more than 6000 meters. While on the trek, we trek right from the base to the top of the mountains, which offers a two-time better view than more famous treks like Gaumukh Tapovan.
It passes through lush green Chir pines, Deodars, Abies pindrows, and spruce trees among others. These trees: towers almost touching the sky always have this fairytale-like effect with the light filtering through in layers. The aroma of these trees is rich and lovely and each twinkle feels like the best kind of awakening.
Kiddar Maidan is unusual for you can camp right next to the seemingly unmoving Nath River, which is a river delta. If there were distinctions as to the most beautiful campsites, this place would unfailingly get a prize.
Kishtwar is covered with high mountains on all sides and thus there is minimum access to it. The act of isolation has ensured that it remains an area of natural beauty and cultural heritage so tourists should consider it a perfect destination to visit.
The Brammah Valley Trek covers alpine meadowland and alpine wetlands both of which are fascinating to watch. Autumn in the valley changes grassy meadows to brown which is so beautiful and appealing.
The trek also makes people acquaint themselves with the unique interaction of the Kishtwar’s. Od temples to mosques, from the places where you will drive, you can witness the architecture which can tell about the world that is hardly known.
Sarcastically, look out for even the exotic animals of the Himalayan region such as the snow leopards, ibex, musk deer and so on. These sightings make a trekking trip a little more adventurous.
While interacting with the native Gujjar & Bakarwal communities it becomes a great way to understand their culture & lifestyle. Participate in cultural activities such as weaving and wood carving, which are incredible, and there is good Nyika cuisine.
Photography enthusiasts will find the trek the best place to take pictures since there are scenic views nearly at every corner of the trek. Going to sleep in a tent and having the night sounds of the country lull you to sleep is a treat.
There are several bird species in the ecosystem of the available region that is, Kashmir. Himalayan monals, blue magpies, golden eagles – to see all these birds you should bring binoculars and a field guide.
Mindfulness and Meditation
Go to a particularly quiet area, and sit down; do not open your eyes and listen to the sounds of nature. It beats other environments for meditation enabling individuals to have an intimate relationship with their environment.
The Brammah Valley Kishtwar National Park Trek is therefore not just a trek but an adventure of the unexpected but in this case expected kind. It is memorable from the skyline to the water reflections, from interactions with native people to wildlife spotting, every moment is glorious. If you’re a trekker with experience or a nature enthusiast, the Brammah Valley will captivate your heart, offering memories of harmony with nature that you’ll cherish forever. Thus, put on your shoes, take your camera and get ready for the exploration of one of the most picturesque terrains on the planet.
