The Mohare Danda Trek is an eco-friendly trekking option located in Nepal's Annapurna region that provides stunning views of the Himalayas while also having a unique cultural experience. The Mohare Danda Trek is meant to be a more peaceful trekking option for visitors who do not want to walk on the busy Poon Hill Trek but still want to see the natural beauty of the Annapurnas. Generally, trekkers begin this trek in the Pokhara area and travel through villages inhabited by Magar and Gurung, farmland that is terraced, and through forests of rhododendron and oak.
When trekkers are about to reach Mohare Danda (approx. 3300 m), they will be able to see incredible views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Nilgiri, Hiunchuli, and Machapuchare. The view from the point at Mohare Danda is known for being one of the most spectacular views of the Himalaya at sunrise and sunset.
The Mohare Danda Trek is rated as a beginner or moderate trek and is ideal for trekkers with a good level of fitness, families, and those looking for a quick and relaxing experience in the Himalayas. Most people will take between four and six days to complete the trek, which uses the tea-house and community lodge trek model with simple, comfortable accommodations provided by local communities.
The best seasons to trek to Mohare Danda are in springtime (March to May), when rhododendron trees are blooming, and autumn (September to November), when the sky is clear, and the mountains can be seen clearly.
The Mohare Danda Trek offers a unique and wonderful way to experience the beauty of the Himalaya through beautiful forest trails, along ridge tops, and with breathtaking views of the Himalayas. It also provides an opportunity to explore traditional village life and immerse oneself in the culture of the Annapurna region, all without having to be a serious mountaineer.
