Mera Peak Climb : A Himalayan Dream at 6,461 Meters

Climbing Mera Peak is a fantastic experience and is recommended for individuals who are looking to start their winter expedition in the Himalayas. Mera Peak is located in Hinku Valley, which is quite remote and located in the Everest Region of Nepal; therefore, it provides an opportunity for trekking amongst beautiful scenery and to gain new climbing skills.

The combination of trekking and glacier travel will allow you to have an incredible experience without doing a lot of climbing that would require advanced technical skills. However, Mera Peak is a serious undertaking, as it is elevated to 6461 m; therefore, you need to train yourself to endure this altitude and become acclimatised to the high-altitude environment, as well as mentally prepare for this adventure.

When you leave from Lukla, you will start your trek towards the Hinku Valley, hiking through untouched rural areas, untouched forested regions, rural valleys, and rural areas of Sherpa villages that are away from the busy Base Camp route.

The landscape gradually changes as you ascend up Mera Peak through lush green hills to rocky glacier areas and ultimately ends with the beautiful panoramic view of the summit of Mera Peak as you walk on snow and ice with the help of crampons and fixed ropes.

From the summit of Mera Peak, you get a 360° view of the world's five highest mountains (Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu & Kangchenjunga), which provides an extremely rare chance for climbers to view five of the world's highest peaks all at once! As a result, climbing Mera Peak is considered one of the top vantage points in Nepal. The altitude is what makes the climb physically strenuous, not the technical aspect.

The best seasons for the Mera Peak Climb are spring (April-May) & fall (September-October). During these times, the weather conditions are stable, visibility is excellent, and the route is safe to follow.

Mera Peak is a great introduction to climbing in the Great Himalayan Region; it will also provide you with some of the best climbing experiences possible, giving you the foundation for future successful attempts on higher, more challenging peaks!
