Lal Tibba has some historical significance that goes back to the 1880s through the British colonial period of India, when this area was constructed and used as a retreat centre for British officers who preferred to be away from the hustle of daily life in Delhi. Earlier visitors to Lal Tibba could use a telescope made in Japan to see several of the mountain peaks in the Himalayas, in addition to being able to enjoy views of both the sunrise and sunset from this spot for generations before.
Lal Tibba is located in the peaceful Landour area of Mussoorie and offers a break from the busy commercial side of Mussoorie. In the Landour region, you will find many older churches, colonial-style cottages, bakeries, and walking trails in the woods. When you walk around Lal Tibba, you can also take in the sights of Landour Clock Tower and Char Dukan, which are close by.
