The trek begins from the village of Barshaini and will take you through quaint mountain villages, majestic waterfalls, and snow-clad mountains. One of the most notable sights during the journey is the serpent-shaped waterfall of Rudra Nag. The entire trek is approximately 18 to 20 km long and is considered beginner-friendly. Owing to its popularity, it is included in many tours in Himachal Pradesh.

The campsite of the Kheerganga Trek is located at a beautiful location. You can enjoy stargazing there. The sunset and sunrise also look very picture perfect from the campsites. There are also some small shops near the campsite from where you can buy basic items.
It is a minor trek compared to the other Himalayan treks. The overall length of the walk is as well minimal at 18 km. This trek can be said to be slightly difficult to individuals who are beginners in trekking. Nonetheless, it can be done easily by individuals who engage in some exercises or other forms of physical activities on a daily basis.
The weather in Parvati valley usually remains good. The summer time feels cool with moderate temperature. Winters are a bit difficult due to snowfall. But the trek is open throughout the year. However, it is possible to avoid monsoon and this can be a more reasonable choice as the paths may be very muddy and slippery. You may also get leeches in forest areas.
The trail to Kheerganga Trek is not difficult. The distance is short and the trail condition is also nice. There are well-marked trails that means you don’t have to worry about getting lost. The greater part of the trek section is not difficult and has slow ascends. But there are some sections that can be a bit challenging for trek-beginners.

Monsoon is not an ideal time to organize Kheerganga trekking. The tracks leading to the Parvati Kund are slippery. It makes them muddy and hard to walk because of the rainfall. You might also fail to see the views owing to extreme mist in the valley. Everything will be damp and there is plenty in the wood of leeches.
Autumn comes with some great views of Kheerganga Trek. If you missed the spring or summer then plan your trek to Kheerganga in autumn. It is also a great time to plan the trek. The post-monsoon makes everything beautiful. You will see clear skies and some amazing scenery. The temperature starts falling and the valley silently starts turning golden.
The Kheerganga trek is a little hard during winter. During winters, Parvati Valley gets sufficient snowfall. The tracks leading to Kheerganga are snowed and walking becomes hard. Even the Parvati Kund is frozen during winters. You must not plan your Kheerganga Trek during winters unless you are a snow lover.
From Kasol, you can easily find a shared taxi to Barshaini. It is only 16 km away from Kasol.
Kheerganga Trek has very scenic trails. You will have some beautiful places to shoot pictures everywhere. The trails have large forests. There are also some waterfalls and apple orchards to be seen. Kheerganga Trek has easy terrain and hence you can enjoy more.

Kheerganga is one such trail that can literally make you familiar with the local culture of Himachali people. As you head to Parvati Kund, there are two villages you would be passing through. These villages hold the beauty of the Himachali culture.
You can get your 30-40L backpack for the trek. Now pack 2 t-shirts and one trekking pant. You can also pack your jogger. You must always have a suncap no matter the time of the year. Stuff in trekking shoes or any other comfortable pair of shoes. Pack 2 cotton pairs of socks and 1 pair of woolen socks. And now lastly, pack personal items, such as toothpaste, fashwash, etc. In addition to this, you should have a rain jacket. If you are planning the trek in winters then add a down jacket and pair of thermals. You will also require gloves and a woolen beanie.
Kheerganga is a small trek which means you should find more time to spend in nature. Start your trek from Barshini village early in the morning. You will now have sufficient time to appreciate the scenery and visit the villages. You are able to have sufficient rest and arrive at the campsite on time.
Kheerganga is a moderate trek. It is a beginner friendly trek but you should still prepare yourself. Take some time and go for a walk daily for about 2 weeks. It will boost your confidence in walking for hours.
Your trek to Kheerganga can become difficult if you are carrying a lot of stuff. It will make your backpack heavy. Do not pack any extra items and try to share items. If you are trekking in with friends then share items like slippers, toilet roll, etc. There are also some rest shops so don’t pack the bag with lots of snacks.

Start the trek to Kheerganga from Barshaini. We will start walking and cover 9 km on the trek. We will reach Keerganga by the afternoon.
Day 2: Barshaini to Kheerganga | 9 km trek in 4 to 5 hrs
The descent will take about 4-5 hours with some of the most beautiful scenery. We will have some breakfast and then will start heading back to Barshaini.
