Dharamshala is a famous tourist destination with lots of tourist attractions. This city is widely known for its Tibetan culture. You can visit monasteries and enjoy Tibetan food. This trek passes through beautiful valleys, deodar forests, and open meadows. In some seasons, you can also witness snowfields and cascading waterfalls. Chandigarh is well connected via train, bus, and air. Reach Chandigarh and look for buses to Dharamshala. The distance is about 250 km and will take about 6-7 hours. Shared taxi services are also available from Chandigarh to Dharamshala.
Pathankot has great railway connectivity from all major cities. Book a train ticket and reach Pathankot. Now you can take a bus or local taxi to Dharamshala. The distance is only 90 km and will take about 2-3 hours.
Day 1: Reach Dharamshala and have a rest
Day 2: Sightseeing of the Monastery, Bhagsu Shiva Temple, and other local attractions.
Day 3: Drive from Dharamshala to Billing. The distance is 80 km and will take 2-3 hours.
Day 4: Start your trek from Billing to Palachak. The trek distance is 12 km and will take 5-6 hours.
Day 5: Start the trek from Palachak to Panihardu.
Day 6: Start your trek from Panihardu to Marhu. The trek distance is 17 km and will take about 10 hours.
Day 7: Trek from Marhu to Bara Bhangal. You have to cover 18 km in about 10 hours.
Day 8: Trek from Dhardi to Nayagaon. Trek distance is 14 km and will take 6-7 hours.
Day 9: Trek from Nayagaon to Deol. Trek distance is 8 km and will take 3-4 hours. Now drive from Deol to Chamba. The distance is 75 km and will take 2-3 hours.

You arrive in Dharamshala today. Pine forests surround the town. You can see the snow-capped mountains.
Take it easy to recover from your trip. Check your gear for the days ahead. Get used to the fresh mountain air. You can walk around your hotel or guesthouse. Try some of the local food.
Go to bed early. You need to be fresh to start the trek tomorrow.
Day 2: Sightseeing of Holiness Monastery, St. John's Church in the Jungle, Dal Lake, Bhagsu Shiva Temple and Waterfalls, and overnight at a hotel.

You will visit the famous Dalai Lama Monastery. It is a peaceful spot. Buddhist prayer flags flutter in the wind there.
The Bhagsu Nag Temple is nearby. So is the Bhagsu waterfall. Walk the winding streets of McLeod Ganj. You will see shops, cafés, and local art. Small temples and walking paths keep the atmosphere calm. This day is relaxed, but you will see a lot of culture and nature.
Day 3: Drive from Dharamshala to Billing via Bir | Drive: 80 km in 2 - 3 hrs

Day 4: Trek from Billing to Palachak | Trek: 12 km in 5 to 6 hrs

Day 5: Trek from Palachak to Panihardu | Trek: 12-15 km in 6-8 hrs

Today’s trek is one of the longer and harder days. Follow rugged trails through mixed forest and open highlands. The path may get steep but offers wide mountain views. Marhu is a small village where camping or guesthouses await. Rest well after a long day.
Day 7: Trek from Marhu to Bara Bhangal | Trek: 18 km in 9 - 10 hrs

Today is another long trek. You cross mountain meadows, forests, and rocky ridges. The height changes slowly the whole time.
Bara Bhangal is a remote village. It is known for its traditional culture and nice surroundings. After your walk, enjoy the village atmosphere. It is very peaceful.
Day 8: Trek from Dhardi to Nayagaon | Trek: 14 km in 7 - 6 hrs
Trek Distance and Duration: 14 km; 6-7 hours
Altitude: Approx. 2540 m to 2400 m
Accommodation: Camping or homestay

The trail goes through pine forests. It runs along river valleys. You will cross small bridges. You will also pass local farms.
Nayagaon is a quiet place. You can find camping here and simple homestays. In the evening, you will hear the soft sounds of mountain life.
Day 9: Nayagaon to Deol and, drive to Chamba | Trek: 8 km in 3 - 4 hrs; Drive: 75 km in 2 - 3 hrs

The last day of the trek is easier. It is a slow walk downhill. You will arrive in Deol village. Prepare for the drive from there.
The road to Chamba goes through forests and valleys. Chamba has old temples and a busy market. This is a good place to rest. You can celebrate the end of your trek here.
