The tiny alpine lake of Beas Kund and the spectacular journey that leads to it attract many to trek to soak in the experience. Beginning in Old Manali, the trek will take you through the old villages of Burua and Shanag, giving you a glimpse of the local culture. Proceeding from there, you’ll come across the lush meadows of Dundi and Bakarthach and the stunning Solang Valley. On your journey, you’ll be rewarded with picturesque views of various mountain peaks including Hanuman Tibba, Deo Tibba, Friendship Mountain, and Ladakhi amongst others. The Trek will lead to Beas Kund, the origin of the Beas River. It is believed that Sage Vyas used to bathe here while he meditated.
Beas Kund Trek is a magnificent and small trek located near Manali that has some marvelous landscapes. The trek is small as you can easily complete it in 4 days. It is believed that Sage Vyas used to bathe in this lake. Later, the lake is named after him. It is a glacial lake and source of Beas river. The water of the lake is so clear that you can see the reflection of Himalayan ranges on it.
The trial of Beas Kund Trek is very serene. You will walk through some dense forests and high-altitude meadows. These sections of the trail are easy to cross. The terrain near the Beas Kund is a bit difficult. There are some rocky sections and moraine fields which adds some adventure to the trek. The Beas Kund Trek is an odyssey to nature and adventure.
Day 1: 14 km Drive from Manali (6700 ft) to Dhundi (9,300 ft), 1.5 km trek from Dhundi to Palchhani Thatch (10,300 ft) | Drive: 1 hr, Trek: 1 hr
Day 2: Palchhani Thatch to Lahani ( 11,000 ft) | Trek: 4 km in 4 - 5 hrs
Day 3: Lohani to Beas Kund (12,772 ft) and Trek to Lohani | Trek: 5 km in 6 - 7 hrs

Beginner-Friendly Trek
Beas Kund is a moderately challenging trek. The landscape of the trek is a combination of both easy and challenging parts. The meadows and the forests are not difficult to cover. The last climb towards the lake is challenging in places. It has some rocky areas and moraine fields.
High-Altitude
The beautiful Beas Kund is resting at an altitude of 3870m. This altitude is pretty high and you can get AMS symptoms. The trekkers should prepare themselves for this altitude. You ought not to attempt to make the trek in one day. Such great distance and height may result in such effects as nausea and headache.
Difficult Terrain
Beas Kund Trek terrain is easy to moderate since it is composed of various types of sections. There are certain areas that are easy such as forests and meadows. Nonetheless, there are not a large number of sections, particularly the final ascension which may prove tricky. It is not an easy task to walk on moraine fields and rocky areas.
Weather Conditions

June is probably the best season for the Beas Kund Trek. You can see good snow on the upper region of the trek. The lower regions remain dry and are easy to trek. The temperature also remains manageable in this season.
You can trek to Beas Kund in monsoon season. The views become spectacular as the meadows look very green and clean. But monsoon means lots of rain. It may cause the trails of Beas Kund to be slippery. One more issue can be fog because you will not be able to see Himalayan ranges.
Post monsoon is also a suitable time for Beas Kund Trek. You will see less crowd on the trek as compared to summer. There will be less rain and fog. The views become clear but the temperature starts falling. You can also get snowfall from around mid-October.
Winter trek to Beas Kund means heavy snowfall. If you are a beginner then do not plan your trek to Beas Kund in winters. There will be heavy snow on the trail.
It is a wonderful place that could make the heart rejoice at Beas Kund. The lake has such pure water of a turquoise blue color. The lake is small with the landscape surrounding the lake marvelous. Glaciers drop down on the lake in little streams. The Beas Kund is also the origin of the Beas river.

The campsites of Beas Kund Trek ( Palchhani Thatch and Lohali) are situated at very scenic locations. You can enjoy a bonfire there and have a freshly cooked warm meal in the cold weather. You can play around, do some activities or can learn about folklore or mountain stories.
Get a good backpack (50L) for your trek to Beas Kund. Now start packing your clothes. You can pack 3 quick-dry t-shirts and 2 trekking trousers. Take a couple of thermals at night. Stuff a woolen sweater or a fleece jacket. Now get a padded jacket which gives a layer of additional warmth. Pack a woolen cap, a pair of gloves and a suncap.
Pack good quality trekking shoes. You should get shoes that have ankle-support. Waterproof trekking shoes are much better options. Pack now 3 pairs trekking socks and a pair woolen socks. In case you have some spare space in the bag then you can carry a pair of sandals to the campsites.
Prepare a small pack with a zipper and stuff in things such as toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, and so on. Pack your moisturizer and sunscreen. toilet paper roll and quick-dry towel Now pack a roll of toilet paper and quick-dry towel. In case you are bringing your camera then bring along some spare batteries. Take your charger and powerback. You can also make a little first-aid kit also.
You can plan the trek to Beas Kund from May to October. But every month has different landscapes. Monsoon is not a good season because the paths may be quite slippery and hard. Beas Kund trek is more suitable in the summer season.
The Beas Kund is a moderate trek. The trek requires hours of walking. When you are a beginner in trekking then begin training your body. Walk every day in the morning, approximately 2 weeks. Another thing you can also train is climbing stairs with a backpack.
Beas Kund is located in a very serene location. You should be a responsible trekker. If you are carrying any packed food or any plastic item then carry it back with you. You should keep your campsites clean and peaceful.

Report at Manali where we will pick you up and make sure you have breakfast before reaching the pickup point then you will reach your campsite around 1:30 pm then you will have lunch there.
Day 2: Palchhani Thatch to Lahani ( 11,000 ft) | Trek: 4 km in 4 - 5 hrs
The next day we will start our trek from Palchhani Thatch to Lohali in which you have to trek 4 km of distance in 4 to 5 hours. Altitude Gain will be around 10,134 ft to 11,050 ft
Day 3: Lohani to Beas Kund (12,772 ft) and Trek to Lohani | Trek: 5 km in 6 - 7 hrs
The day when you are going towards the highest point of the trek and your destination Beas Kund, and then back to the campsite at Lohali, you will have to trek 5
km in around 5 to 6 hours and the altitude will be around 11,050 ft to 12,772 ft.
Day 4: Trek from Lohani to Dhundi, Drive to Manali | Trek: 1.5 km in 1 hr & Drive: 14 km in 1 hr
On the last day of Beas Kund Trek, we descend to Dhundi and you will have to trek 4 km in about 3 to 4 hours at an altitude of 11,050 ft to 9,317 ft and then drive back to Manali, we will reach Manali by 2:30 afternoon
