Sham Valley Trek

Sham Valley, also known as the "Apricot Valley," is located in the Ladakh region of northern India. Sham Valley Trek is situated to the west of the better-known Nubra Valley and lies along the lower reaches of the mighty Indus River. The valley is renowned for its stunning landscapes, vibrant apricot orchards, and traditional Ladakhi villages. The villages in Sham Valley Trek offer a glimpse into the traditional Ladakhi way of life. The inhabitants are primarily of Tibetan descent and follow Tibetan Buddhism. You can find ancient monasteries, chortens (Buddhist stupas), and prayer flags adorning the landscape. Some notable monasteries and gompas in the Sham Valley include Likir Monastery, Rizong Monastery, and Basgo Monastery. These religious sites are not only architecturally fascinating but also spiritually significant for the local Buddhist population.

Day 2: Leh - Likir - Yangthang via Phobe La and Chagatse -

Start your journey from Leh

Likir is approximately 52 kilometers away from Leh, and it usually takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to reach by road.

Begin your trek from Likir. The first pass you’ll encounter is Phobe La, Then Continue your trek to Chagatse La Continue your trek to Chagatse La

Reach campsite at the Yangthang Village and stay overnight there

Day 3: Yangthang to Hemis Shukpachan via Tsermangchan La -

Begin your trek early in the morning Ascend towards Tsermangchan After spending some time at the pass, begin your descent towards Hemis Shukpachan.La,

As you approach Hemis Shukpachan, you’ll notice the charming traditional Ladakhi houses and terraced fields.

Reach the campsite near water streem and stay overnight there

Day 4: Hemis Shukpachan to Temisgam via Mebtak La

Start your trek towards Mebtak La The trail may lead you through rocky terrain, narrow paths, and possibly some streams.

As you ascend towards Mebtak La, Spend some time at the pass to rest Begin your descent from Mebtak La towards Temisgam

Reach the campsite at the Temisgam and stay overnight there
