Kang Yatse II and its surrounding region flourished as a Buddhist kingdom connecting to Tibet. Though the region didn't significantly contribute to trade, it was important for pastoral life and spiritual practices for locals.
The famous Silk Route caravans were believed to pass near Markha Valley. Kang Yatse acted as a landmark for traders to navigate the barren valleys. It was considered a sacred peak which protected locals, shepherds and traders from natural calamities. Even today locals consider it as a sacred guardian. According to local Buddhist followers, the peak is considered the Abode of lha (deities) who guard the valley and its people.
In the 19th and early 20th centuries, British explorers started documenting the Markha Valley and then Kang Yatse peaks came to know. In the late 20th century, they began gaining recognition as trekking peaks. Today they are counted as popular trekking expeditions in Ladakh region.

To reach Kang Yatse II, people usually start from Leh, the capital of Ladakh. Leh is well connected by air and flights operate regularly from Delhi and other major Indian cities. The nearest railway stations are in Jammu and Chandigarh, but they are quite far, so most people prefer To fly at once to Leh. Once you reach Leh, it is important to spend 2 to 3 days there to get used to The excessive altitude and keep away from AMS.

Day 3: Drive Leh to Skiu and trek to Sara
Depart from Leh early in the morning to make the most of the day.Arrive in Skiu and start your trek towards Sara. Be prepared for varied terrain and possible altitude changes.
Once you reach Sara, settle in at your accommodation and take some time to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Day 4: Trek Sara to Markha
Start your trek towards Markha Enjoy the stunning natural scenery and keep an eye out for any wildlife or cultural sites along the way. Be prepared for varied terrain, including rocky paths, river crossings, and possible altitude changes
Once you reach Markha,accommodate and take some time to relax and soak in the surroundings.
Day 5: Trek Markha to Thachungtse
Begin your trek early in the morning towards Thachungtse
The trail will take you through high-altitude terrain with stunning views of the surrounding mountains valleys and keep an eye out for wildlife or cultural sites along the way.
Once you reach Thachungtse enjoy your accommodation and take some time to relax and soak in the surroundings.
Day 6: Trek Thachungtse to Nimaling
Begin your trek early in the morning to make the most of the day and take advantage of the daylight. Follow the designated trail from Thachungtse to Nimaling. Be prepared for varied terrain, including rocky paths, possible river crossings, and altitude changes
Enjoy the stunning natural scenery and keep an eye out for wildlife or cultural sites along the way.
Once you reach Nimaling, your accommodation and take some time to relax and soak in the surroundings.
Day 7: Acclimatisation walk to Kongmaru La & back to Nimaling
Begin your acclimatization walk early in the morning to make the most of the favorable weather conditions.Follow the designated trail towards Kongmaru La.
This walk serves as an important acclimatization exercise. It allows your body to adjust to higher altitudes gradually.
Once you reach the pass, take some time to soak in the breathtaking panoramic views. Kongmaru La offers stunning vistas of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
After spending some time at Kongmaru La, begin your descent back to Nimaling and stay overnight there
Day 8: Trek to Kang Yatse Base camp
Begin your trek early in the morning to take advantage of the daylight.Follow the designated trail from Nimaling to Kang Yatze Base Camp
Be prepared for varied terrain, including rocky paths and possible altitude changes.Enjoy the stunning natural scenery and keep an eye out for wildlife or cultural sites along the way.
Once you reach the base camp, stay your designated camping area and take some time to acclimate to the higher altitude.
Day 9: Rest day
A day to help you to get acclimatised at the hight altitude and for training

Day 10: Climb Kang Yatse II & descend to Base camp

Start your day well before dawn, usually around midnight to allow ample time for the ascent and descent.
Begin the trek towards the summit of Kang Yatse II The initial part may be steep and challenging, and the air will be thin. Take slow, steady steps
The route heads north up the rocky slope via the northwestern ridge, after a steep climb to the top you will have 360 degree views of the Zanskar Range, Karakoram Peaks and the surrounding mountains of Kang Yatse.
Once you reach the summit, take some time to celebrate your achievement and soak in the breathtaking views.
After spending some time at the summit, carefully descend back to the base camp. Take your time and be cautious while descending

It serves as a safety net to account for factors such as adverse weather conditions, altitude sickness, equipment issues, or any other unexpected events

Day 13: Drive back to leh
