
AULI TOUR HIGHLIGHTS -
Auli is known as the Ski destination of India located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Auli in summers is from March to June as the temperatures are not too cold or too hot ranging between 6–17-degree C. One can take in the natural beauty of the magnificent coniferous trees overlooked by the snowcapped mountains by taking a leisurely or an intense trek, or go for small walks around the Chattrakund lake and enjoy a nice picnic away from the bustling heat of the cities.
Auli in winters is from November to February and is a sight to behold as its covered with snow especially December onwards. The minimum temperatures range from -8 to 0 degrees Celsius. Owing to this it’s an ideal place for skiing, snow trekking and snowboarding.
JOSHIMATH – is also known as the base town of Auli. It is here that the ropeway to Auli begins. This ropeway is one of the longest ropeways in Asia. The cable car ropeway also known as Gondola ride covers approximately 4.5kms between Joshimath and Auli and costs about 1000Rs for both ways.
Along with a cable car one can even make use of the chair lift and a ski lift to reach at the top apart from the marked trekking routes
SHANKRACHARYA MATH –
Established by Adi Shankaracharya has temples of Badrinarayan and Rajrajeshwari Devi. One can also explore the sacred cave where it is believed that shankaracharya conducted his meditation.
NARSINGH TEMPLE - This is an ancient temple of Lord Vishnu in its Narsingh avatar which is half lion and half man.
TAPOVAN - Situated 10 km from Joshimath famous for its natural hot water springs from which river Dhauliganga is visible.
ARTIFICIAL LAKE – Located 3000 mt above sea level take a stroll around the artificial lake of Auli located next to the Cliff Top Club resort.
NANDA DEVI AND VALLEY OF FLOWER NATIONAL PARK –

BY RAIL - The nearest railway station to Auli is Rishikesh which is situated 264kms from Auli. Rishikesh railway station is well connected with frequent trains from major destinations of India. Alternatively, one can even get down at Dehradun railway station which is 290 kms away.
BY ROAD - Auli is well connected by motorable roads with all major cities of Uttarakhand.
From Delhi Auli is about 490 kms by road and can take about 10-12 hrs to reach.
From Rishikesh Auli is about 250 kms by road and can take about 6-8 hrs to reach.
Auli is situated 14 kms from Joshimath the base town. In winters (from December end till mid-March) the road from Joshimath to Auli is not operational due to heavy snowfall. One has to take a Cable car as it is the only mode of transportation from Joshimath to Auli.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO CARRY –
CLOTHING – Travelling during winters one will require to be dressed in warm yet comfortable clothing. Layering your clothes hence becomes important and practical.
Wearing thermal tops and bottoms is a must esp. when travelling during winter months along with some woolen or thermal socks. Over the thermals one can wear layers of other clothing items to keep warm.
A woolen cap or a beanie will keep one warm especially when winds are strong.
A waterproof jacket, gloves and shoes are very important while undertaking outdoor activities like skiing, trekking etc.
ESSENTIAL DOCUMENTS – a government id proof such as Aadhar card, passport or driving license is required at all hotels or guest houses while you check in. additionally some permits might be required while visiting some national parks and wildlife sanctuaries.
MEDICINES – if you are on any lifelong medicines definitely carry those. Along with it one can carry a few basic medicines for fever and pain relief and some basic first aid stuff like band aids, antiseptics and ointments.
