The Kedarkantha trek is a well-known winter retreat that many have come to know through digital and social media sites like Instagram. The beautiful sceneries and the beauty of Kedarkantha forced us, the whole group, to visit this winter paradise. First, we had a question about several Kedarkantha packs from Himalaya Shelter, one of the main trekking companies in Dehradun. Himalaya Shelter camping options and itineraries were flexible, While other trekking companies were not completely in tune with our desires. Selecting a Kedarkantha camp itinerary provided us with an opportunity to select our own camping sites depending on various factors of convenience.
Trek had a very good starting due to the logistics as a Himalaya Shelter tempo traveler had sent us from Dehradun to a village named Sankri, The distance from Dehradun to Sankri village is 200km, Sankri which is a famous village around this region. We found comfort within the shelter of the mountains at the Himalaya Shelter guesthouse. The next day we began our journey towards Juda Ka Talab camp and it takes 4 to 5 hours to trek 4 km from Sankri to Juda Ka Talab. Himalaya Shelter’s trek leaders did give us a very in-depth talk, stressing how different this was a night trek and seeing the sunrise from the top.
Summit through a night ascent was the highlight of the Kedarkantha trek, which began at 2 am from the base camp. At 12,500 feet, the walk-up to the summit took four hours and was difficult and enjoyable. We could not have asked for more than what we got from reaching the top of Kedarkantha and seeing a breathtaking panoramic view as well as watching the sun rise which will remain an unforgettable memory. In celebrating our summit’s success, the collective joy and sense of achievement within the group could be felt.
We descended from the peak and went back to our camp with a feeling of pride. The following day saw us return to Sankri where for a night we relished each other’s company whilst taking in the atmosphere and reminiscing on that memorable journey. Our trip ended in the Dehradun journey and we all left with a box full of memories.
Looking back, the trek of Kedarkantha and Himalaya shelter is memorable and showcases the firm’s attention to ensuring that the trek fits our priorities, adaptability, as well as comfort. Being able to hike together, the breathtaking sceneries and the conquest on Kedarkantha Peak turn this hike into a unique and priceless page in my journey stories book.
