Talley Valley Trek

The Talley Valley Trek in Arunachal Pradesh is a moderate-level trek that takes you through dense forests, picturesque valleys, and serene landscapes. The trek is approximately 8-9 km long and is ideal for those who want to experience the beauty of Arunachal Pradesh.  

The altitude of the trek ranges from 1,500 to 2,000 meters above sea level.

Short Itinerary

Your first-day journey starts from Naharlagun and from there drive to Ziro, which is situated in the lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh the journey between these two places is very beautiful, it is famous for its lush green paddy fields.

Explore Ziro, the land of the Apatani tribes. Experience the landscape of rice fields, and other places then head to Mani Polyang which is a picturesque little village in Ziro

This is our third day and we will drive from Mani Polyang to Pange Valley, there are some specimens of steep ascents and descents, and the overall terrain is a flat temperate forest area, while the Pange River flows along the way

Today’s trek starts from Pange to Talley Valley as you have to climb from 6,200 ft to 9000 ft and descend to 8,100 ft, so the trek is long and tiring and when you reach the highest point of 9000 ft take the path which descends through bamboo forest and the village in order to reach the campsite

  • Duration – 5 to 6 hours

We descent gradually from Talley Valley to Pange Valley River the time takes to reach the campsite which will be near the campsite is 10km and time should be taken 6 hours at an altitude of 5,250 ft

Before the last day of the trek, you will have to climb a bit, then gradually descend for a few hours, and then reach Hong Village.

We start our day from Hong Village via Ziro to Naharlagun, which is 4 km from Hong Village. Then after reaching Naharlagun, we officially ended our beautiful journey from where we started.

Even during the day, when it’s about 25 degrees Celsius, it might not feel warm because it’s often windy, making it feel colder than it really is. The winters in this region can be quite harsh.

 

In simpler terms, the best time for Talley Valley Trek is from October to April when you’ll see stunning snowy landscapes. But be prepared for cold nights and chilly days due to the wind, even when it’s around 25 degrees Celsius during the day. Winters here are pretty tough.

Talle Valley Trek stands tall at an elevation of 9,000 feet approximately. There will be snow in the months from January to March. It can be done in the snow. The month of June is one of the best months to visit Tally Valley trek, as the temperature ranges between 2.9 degrees Celsius to -5.7 degrees Celsius.

By Air: The nearest airport is Lilabari in Assam, but it doesn’t have many direct flights. You might need to take connecting flights from major Indian cities.

By Road: Ziro is about 115 km from the state capital, Itanagar. It takes around 3.5 hours via the improved Hoj-Potin road or 150 km through Assam. Public buses are also an option.

By Rail: The closest railway station is Naharlagun, which is around 100 km away and near the Arunachal-Assam border.

The Talle Valley peak trail has decent network coverage. On the first day of the trek, most mobile networks work well. However, on the second day, there’s no signal at all. From the third day onwards, you might find network signals sporadically, but they only last for a few minutes. During those brief moments, you can send a message home if needed. However, who really needs a network when the mountains are beckoning you?

 

In simpler terms, during the Talle Valley peak trek, you’ll have good phone coverage on the first day. On the second day, there’s no signal at all. From the third day onwards, you might get network signals here and there, but they don’t last long. You can use those short periods to send a quick message, but honestly, when you’re surrounded by these majestic mountains, who wants to be on their phone anyway?

The trek to Talle Valley Peak meanders through numerous villages and alongside streams. Along the way, you’ll come across water sources at various points during your daily journey. The water you find in these streams is generally safe to drink as it’s clean and not contaminated. However, if you desire absolute assurance of purity, you can bring along chlorine tablets with you. These tablets are readily available at most pharmacies, ensuring you have a convenient means of purifying water during your trek.
