The Mukta Top region is believed to influenced by the rise of Garhwal Kingdom. However, they haven't directly rule this region but maintained control over the upper Himalayan routes and meadows. Mukta Top region was used for animal grazing and as a resting point rather than a part of prominent trade or military route.

Under the British colonial system, the British started mapping the Himalayan region in detail but somehow areas like Mukta Top still remained unexplored. The British invested in the regions like Mussoorie and Dehradun for their summer retreat and military needs but due to high-altitude and difficult terrain, the regions like Mukta Top were not their focus.

After independence in 1947, with the expansion of trekking routes in Uttarakhand, Mukta Top became more accessible. It gained popularity among trekkers for its panoramic view of Himalayan peaks like Bandarpoonch and Draupadi Ka Danda.
